Chaos broke out at an Eden Prairie elementary school Zoom call when students and staff were interrupted by pornographic imagery and threats of violence. The unwelcome interruption occurred during a virtual ceremony to watch a Blue Ribbon flag-raising at Oak Point Elementary—an event celebrating the school's academic achievements—where unknown intruders managed to access the livestream. Fox 9 reported that the assailants shared obscene content and used an automated voice to issue threats.

According to the letter sent to families by Principal Dr. Chris Rogers, which was shared with FOX 9, the call was shut down immediately upon discovery of the disruptive content. "Our teachers had this Zoom call playing in their classrooms so students could see the flag raised," explained Rogers, acknowledging that despite some teachers having muted their devices, the harmful material might have been witnessed by the children.

The Eden Prairie Police Department, later on, classified the threats as non-credible, as mentioned in a follow-up email that Chris Rogers sent to the Oak Point families jointly with Hernan Estrada, the principal of the co-located Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion school. This update was covered in detail by EP Local News.

While the school day continued without a lockdown, the impact of the incident provoked frustration and concern among parents. "Why was this not a secure thing? Who knows who these people were, and what kind of sick person does this?" a concerned parent told EP Local News. Moreover, some parents felt compelled to pick up their children early due to anxiety stemming from social media or word-of-mouth reports.

Grace Becker, director of marketing and communications for Eden Prairie Schools, expressed the district's contrition for the incident, vowing that measures will be taken to prevent such breaches in the future. Becker told EP Local News, "We are sorry this happened... Student safety is our priority." She reassured that counselors and workers would be available to support the students if deemed necessary.
