
A fatal accident rocked El Cajon late Wednesday night as a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on East Washington Avenue. In a statement obtained by the El Cajon Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 10:34 PM near the 700 block.
The victim, a 34-year-old male whose name has not been released while family notifications are pending, died on the scene. Paramedics' efforts were to no avail, as the collision claimed his life before he could be transported to a medical facility. The driver involved in the tragic event, operating a 2015 silver Toyota Camry, remained at the site of the collision and has been cooperating with authorities. As of now, neither alcohol nor drugs are thought to have played any part in the incident, according to the initial investigation by law enforcement.
As detectives continue to unravel the circumstances of the devastating event, they urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in piecing together the moments that led to the tragedy.
