A 77-year-old San Antonio man who was the subject of a Silver Alert on Monday has been reportedly found safe, local police said. The elderly individual, identified as Armando Benavidez, was believed to pose a considerable threat to his health and safety due to a reported cognitive impairment.
Authorities issued the alert after Benavidez went missing. The San Antonio Police Department did not immediately disclose the location where Benavidez was eventually found. The information originally reported by KSAT, was sparse in details, and no further updates on his condition were provided at the time.
A Silver Alert is typically activated when an elderly person, often someone with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other mental disabilities, goes missing under circumstances that indicate their disappearance poses a credible threat to their health and safety, as was the concern for Mr. Benavidez. This public notification system aims to swiftly engage the community to assist in locating the missing individual.
"No other information available at this time," was the brief update provided by the San Antonio Police, according to FOX San Antonio.
