In a move signaling continued dedication to the welfare of Los Angeles’ younger residents, Supervisor Janice Hahn has secured Eli Romero for another term on the County’s Commission for Children and Families. According to a Los Angeles County bulletin, Wilmington’s own Romero, with a decade's worth of economic and workforce development expertise, remains a key player in advocating for children, youth, and families in the Harbor area and beyond.
“I am proud to be allowed to continue to sit on the commission and to uplift the needs of children, youth, and families in the fourth supervisorial district and the county overall. Ensuring the safety, connection, and support of young people is imperative to the collective success of Los Angeles," Romero was quoted in the bulletin. Founded by Romero in 2017, Listo is a consultancy that champions strategic planning and training on equity and inclusion. Overseeing strategic investments in job training and community engagement, he also plays a crucial role as Workforce Development Officer for the City of Long Beach.
Janice Hahn lauded Romero’s appointment, emphasizing the critical nature of the commission's role in safeguarding vulnerable demographics. “Serving as a safety net for at-risk children and their families is some of the most important work we do, so we need to be able to count on experienced, knowledgeable commissioners. Eli brings that to the commission," Hahn told the bulletin, affirming his leadership and valued input into the commission's mission.
