The manhunt intensifies across Texas as authorities are desperately searching for a man who managed to escape from a Brazoria prison yesterday, officials report. Robert Yancy Jr., a 39-year-old inmate serving a life sentence without parole for continuous sexual abuse of a child, was last seen around 3:30 p.m. at the Clemens Unit before vanishing.

According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Yancy, who was convicted for his crimes in Victoria County, was last seen in a stolen 2021 white Nissan Versa, bearing the license plate DNR9145, the Houston Chronicle reports. His escape outfit included a non-descript black beanie and a black sweater.

The TDCJ has issued a stern precaution against approaching Yancy, revealing his criminal history and potential propensity for danger. If spotted, the public is asked to immediately contact local law enforcement authorities and not attempt engagement. Information leading to his capture can be filed anonymously with the Office of Inspector General at 1-800-832-8477, agency officials said.

Local enforcement agencies believe Yancy has likely fled the immediate vicinity of the prison. "All information obtained at this point leads us to believe Yancy is no longer in Brazoria County," said the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post.
