In a brazen pre-dawn attack, 22-year-old Peter Ibarra Gurrola was nabbed by San Bernardino authorities for unloading a barrage of bullets into a Yucaipa home, suspecting his ex-girlfriend, who was visiting the residence at the time, lawmen stated. The gunfire, which pierced the quiet of the 33000 block of Colorado Street on November 17, sparked panic and a flurry of 911 calls as it shattered the peace around 1:46 a.m.
Deputies arriving on the scene found the street littered with shell casings and the targeted home pocked with bullet strikes. They quickly deduced that Gurrola, hailing from Moreno Valley, may be the trigger man after parsing through evidence. The victims' testimonies, who pointed the finger at him, Gurrola's ex-girlfriend, was reportedly at the residence during the incident.
On December 6th, in a joint operation, the Yucaipa Station deputies, assisted by the Specialized Enforcement Division, executed a well-timed swoop on Gurrola's Moreno Valley digs while ailing, and they turned up an AR-15 pistol and a duo of other firearms. Following the raid, Gurrola was hauled off and booked on charges of shooting at an inhabited dwelling at Central Detention Center; his bail didn’t come cheap, set at $100,000.
Even as Peter Ibarra Gurrola faces the long arm of the law, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department are pressing on with the investigation. They're calling on anyone harboring details about the November shootout to dial-up Detective S. Swanson or Deputy B. Savage at Yucaipa Station, according to an official release.
