A family of four, including two children, has been ousted from their home after a devastating blaze swept through their southwest Austin residence. According to a social media announcement from the Austin Fire Department, the fire ignited in the early morning hours and decimated the entirety of the house. A collaborative response from AFD and Westlake Fire Department crews was initiated in response to the emergency call at around 3:30 a.m. near Lost Creek and Loop 360, as reported by KXAN.
The fire, starting at the back of the house before finding its way to the attic, gutted the structure beyond repair. Smoke detectors played a critical role in alerting the family, allowing for a timely escape without any reported injuries. Despite the escape, driven by an instinct for survival, the house was nevertheless labeled a total loss, as confirmed by AFD.
Further details about the cause of the inferno remain unclear. The fire, quenched by the combined efforts of local fire crews, concluded without further incident. CBS Austin reported that the operation was successful in knocking down the fire.
While the aftermath continues to unfold, the immediate focus has shifted to the displaced family, which is now grappling with the sudden loss of their home. With the investigation ongoing, there has been no word yet on potential causes or suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze.
