The FBI has issued a multi-state alert for an Indianapolis teen believed to be in the company of her 20-year-old boyfriend, with law enforcement now on the lookout across Georgia. The missing person, 14-year-old Akary Cruz, was last seen at her home on December 19 before seemingly vanishing into a thicket of concern and mystery.
Akary Cruz, now the center of an FBI search, is thought to be with her boyfriend Esvin Cruz Cante. The couple may be heading to Guatemala, Cante's home country. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that Cruz left behind an note, detailing her romantic involvement with Esvin and their intent to journey together to Guatemala.
Details on the teen describe her as 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a weight of about 120 pounds, sporting black hair and brown eyes. Concern grows as she remains unaccounted for, and the authorities call upon anyone with information to step forward. They are believed to be traveling in a blue 2010 Honda Civic with an Indiana license plate, number 783CNO.
The FBI's Atlanta field office has joined forces with local police, casting a wide net to capture any leads. According to Atlanta News First, anyone with information is urged to call 911, reach out to the FBI's Atlanta field office at 770-216-3000, or contact the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department at 317-327-6160. In a time where every second counts, the community’s eyes and ears could prove critical in ensuring Akary Cruz's safe return.
