It was more than just another flight taking off from San Antonio International Airport; it was a cultural fiesta in the skies as the airport launched its first nonstop service to Queretaro, Mexico. Passengers were treated to a celebration replete with folklorico dances and treats to mark the momentous occasion, as Fox San Antonio reported, adding a dash of pageantry to the otherwise routine pre-flight procedures.
In a statement obtained by KSAT, Jesus Saenz, director of airports for the San Antonio Airport System, gushed over the new route, saying, "Queretaro is an important destination when it comes to both business and leisure travel," which heralds an era of enhanced connectivity between the two cities, particularly significant given the historical and economic ties binding them, and now leisure travelers and business commuters alike can embark on this journey, seated in one of the 240 spaces aboard the A321 Aerobus every Monday and Friday.
It wasn't just the passengers boarding the flight who had something to be excited about; Viva Aerobus also announced a partnership designed to sprinkle some additional perks on those flying out of San Antonio. Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus, enthused to Fox San Antonio, "Now, Queretaro residents will be able to visit the River Walk and discover everything this city has to offer: art, culture, gastronomy, entertainment, and, of course, shopping. Vice versa, Americans will be able to enjoy a thrilling city like Queretaro."
The skies between San Antonio and Queretaro will be threaded more frequently than ever with a flight plan that's nothing short of convenient: leaving SAT at a commuter-friendly 6:05 p.m. on the dot and gliding into Queretaro International Airport by 8:10 p.m. just in time for dinner or a late-evening stroll. Meanwhile, the return flights will take off at 2:45 p.m. and touch down back in San Antonio at the same 8:10 p.m., according to a detailed schedule released by KSAT. Expanding its reach, SAT isn't stopping there, announcing increases in nonstop service to Mexico City and Leon/Guanajuato in the coming months, further entrenching its position as a key gateway to Latin American destinations.
