
Firefighters battled a blaze at a two-story garden-style apartment building in Sun Valley on Christmas Eve, successfully extinguishing the flames within 22 minutes.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the incident at 07:11 AM at 7237 N Vineland Avenue, where they encountered a fire showing from one of the units. According to an LAFD alert, firefighters were in "offensive mode" as they worked to contain the fire.
A total of 32 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. By 7:33 AM, the department announced a "knockdown" of the fire. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The LAFD alert stated, "32 firefighters extinguished the fire in 22 minutes with no injuries reported." As a precaution, the Incident Commander requested the presence of LAFD Arson investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
Officials have not yet released the details on what may have started the fire, however, the follow-up LAFD alert mentioned that arson investigators had been called to the scene. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Council District 2, and the response was managed by Battalions 14 and 10, from Fire Station 89.
