Time's ticking for Fort Worth residents who want to weigh in on the future of their local parks and playgrounds. You've got until New Year's Day to complete a survey that will play a key role in shaping the "Play Big!" Master Plan. This grand scheme is not just some pie-in-the-sky concept, it's a concrete blueprint designed to upgrade the park system, pinpoint locations for future green spaces and facilities, boost current spots, and roll out fresh parks and programs, according to the City of Fort Worth.
The city has big plans and wants locals to get in on the action. The Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is on a mission to revamp the city's outdoor spaces and has roped in a pro firm, National Service Research, to hash out a statistically sound survey. The survey, which is up and running in both English and Spanish, is a serious business – it's meant to check if the city's park system measures up to what folks want and need.
But it's not all surveys and stats. The city's planning to get down and dirty with community feedback, using workshops and pop-up events to pick the brains of those who know the areas best – the residents. This move to rally community spirits is all in the service of chalking out strategies for more recreational programs, sparking economic development, and sniffing out different funding and grant opportunities. Word on the street is, that we'll also see recommendations for policy tweaks to make sure the vision sticks.
