Chaos erupted on the East Side of San Antonio last night when a routine traffic stop escalated into a high-speed chase and a tense standoff. Four individuals, three men and a woman, were taken into custody after the pursuit ended with a vehicle crash and a frenetic scramble into residential homes, as confirmed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The incident initiated close to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, kicking off near Rigsby Road and Roland Avenue. According to FOX San Antonio, the driver, with whom the DPS troopers attempted to flag down, failed to comply, thus sparking a chase that would lead to them crashing the car on Cody Street.

In the wake of the crash, the quartet abandoned their vehicle, scattering on foot. While DPS troopers managed to apprehend two suspects immediately, the remaining two led authorities to two homes on Bee Street. One of the suspects, who had an outstanding warrant, was involved in the standoff, as reported by KENS 5.

The situation culminated after a three-hour standoff, with state troopers and Texas Rangers securing the arrest of the final two suspects barricaded in the homes. It remains unclear whether the homes invaded were randomly chosen or if they bore any connection to the suspects. No injuries or shots fired were reported during the pursuit and standoff.

The identities of the suspects have not been disclosed as the investigation continues. However, DPS has assured the public that the scene has been secured and there is no further risk to community safety, as confirmed by FOX San Antonio.
