Marvin Haynes, who spent almost two decades behind bars for a murder he always insisted he did not commit, is now a free man. Haynes was released from the Stillwater prison just ten days ago, radiating with a giant smile and positively gearing up to rebuild his life in time for the Christmas festivities, according to FOX 9,
In the short time since his release, Haynes has been attempting to quickly catch up on several fronts—securing a job, setting up a bank account, and getting his driver’s license—foundations of a fresh start. "Man, I am feeling good to be out here really free," Marvin Haynes said, as stated by FOX 9.
Now, Haynes is focusing on the future. With his partner, Shannon, by his side, who supported him through the long years of incarceration, Marvin is intent on trying to help others he believes the criminal justice system similarly failed. This includes advocating for legislative changes and working with the Great North Innocence Project. "It's sad that it took 19 years for me to get justice. But it happened. It is what it is. Let's help the next person so it won't be 19 years," reported Fox9.
