
The City of Garland is gearing up for its primary elections, slated for March 5, and has announced key dates including Monday, Jan. 1 as the commencement day for applying for a ballot by mail and setting the voter registration deadline for Monday, Feb. 5, according to the City of Garland.
Residents keen on early voting for the primary election can cast their votes starting Tuesday, Feb. 20 through to Friday, March 1, however, those looking to apply for a ballot by mail must do so by Friday, February 23 which is the last day to submit such requests. The early voting ends just before the final day to receive ballots by mail, which is on the actual day of the election, Tuesday, March 5. Garland voters are reminded to keep an eye out for the May 4 general election, which will elect City Council members for certain districts, with applications for candidacy accepted beginning from Jan. 17 to Feb. 16.
The procedure for acquiring a ballot by mail for the general election begins Jan. 1, leading up to the deadline for receiving an application in person on Tuesday, April 23. Voters need to register by Tuesday, April 30 if they wish to participate, with the early voting window opening on April 22 and closing on April 30, per the City of Garland.
On the decisive day of May 4, polls will maintain operation from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., enabling Garland residents the opportunity to vote at any polling location within Dallas County. This effort towards improving voter convenience mirrors a more county-wide approach to accessibility in an attempt to encourage a higher voter turnout.
