The Glendale Police Department has cuffed three men in connection with a string of house heists, marking a breakthrough in a month-long investigation. The trio, identified as Felipe Leivasolis, 33, Francisco Alegria, 30, and Juan Eduardo Salomon Castro, 31, were nabbed Tuesday afternoon by the newly minted Glendale Police Residential Burglary Taskforce and detectives in Los Angeles, putting a temporary halt to the burglaries terrorizing the community.
During the pursuit, two suspects tried to make a break for it on foot but were quickly reeled in by law enforcement. These arrests cap off a steadfast probe into a wave of burglaries that have hit Glendale homes, with the suspects also eyed for other unsavory acts throughout the area. Glendale PD credited witness statements, video evidence, and the latest tech gadgets for putting the finger on Leivasolis and the company.
Aiming to stem the tide of break-ins, the Glendale PD formed a task force teeming with patrol, motor officers, Special Enforcement Detail, detectives, and undercover cops. By deploying state-of-the-art technology and concentrated patrols, burglaries plunged from a spate each week to zero over the past seven days.
Despite the apprehension of the criminal trio, Glendale Police Chief Manny Cid promised a relentless fight against property prowlers. "We stand resolute in our duty to protect the sanctity of every home and ensure the peace of mind for all residents," said Cid, "We will leverage every available resource at our disposal to confront those that threaten the safety and well-being of Glendale," in a statement obtained by the Glendale Police Department. The suspects are cooling their heels at Glendale City Jail, awaiting court dates. Notably, Leivasolis is also facing a $100,000 warrant for a separate robbery beef in Burbank.
The Glendale Police Department urges locals to keep their eyes peeled and report any suspicious activity. Tips on residential burglaries can be submitted by dialing 818-548-4911. For further details, interested parties can visit GlendaleCA.gov/Police.
