Last Wednesday, a Zavala County deputy apprehended a malefactor and recovered a stolen vehicle—a gray Dodge pickup with a backstory of theft from San Antonio—during what should have been a routine traffic stop on US Highway 57, as reported by Fox San Antonio.
Simon Garcia of San Antonio, TX, was caught after the license plate check threw a red flag for theft, leading the officer to put on cuffs. This encounter kicked off at about 5 p.m. near the junction of FM 187, and while being frisked, several syringes along with other alarming paraphernalia tumbled from the cargo pockets of Garcia's shorts.
Shipped off to Zavala County Jail, Garcia is facing the stark reality of unauthorized vehicle use, yet the recovered vehicle was released to a wrecker service without further incident, as per Fox San Antonio.
In another related story, Batesville's US Highway 57 was shattered when another Dodge, this one a tan Journey, took officers on a wild goose chase through brushland following an attempted stop for a seemingly minor traffic hiccup—the chase ignited pre-sunrise, before 7 a.m., and the renegade vehicle with its passengers eventually scattered into the brush, leaving no injuries, just questions. The investigation continues to unfold, as detailed by The Maverick Times News.
