Authorities have tightened the net on suspects in a May homicide following months of investigation, managing to secure one man behind bars while continuing the manhunt for his alleged accomplice. The Houston Police Department confirmed the arrest of Derrick Trumaine Jackquet, 27, charged with the cold-blooded murder of 24-year-old Davion Scott at a gas station earlier this year.

Jackquet, whose image the authorities released, was apprehended on December 21st by members of the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team. He didn't manage to remain on the run since being charged on November 13. This development leaves Marquel Deshawn Ponder, 30, still at large and bitterly hunted by law enforcement. Ponder, also charged with murder, has been evading capture since June, according to a news release.

The grievous incident occurred late on May 30 at a gas station situated at 13103 Westheimer Road. There, detectives found Scott fatally wounded, riddled with bullets in his vehicle, dead at the scene. The tragic event unfurled when two suspects, now identified as Jackquet and Ponder, reportedly alighted from a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice and, in an act of brazen violence, opened fire on Scott.

While the fugitive's whereabouts remain frustratingly elusive, authorities are not relenting in their fervent appeal to the public to step forward with any information that might help to finally corner and capture Ponder. Anyone with pertinent knowledge is urged to make a decisive call to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or to tip anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, according to the same press release.
