Houston residents can expect to see more rainfall and possibly thunderstorms as they head into the early hours of Sunday with a low of around 63 degrees and southeast winds gusting as high as 25 mph. According to the National Weather Service, an 80% chance of precipitation could bring new rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

As the day progresses, showers and potential thunderstorms are predicted before noon, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 5:00 p.m. The southeast wind is expected to shift southwest in the afternoon, with conditions slightly improving by Sunday evening when partly cloudy skies are forecasted and lows dropping around 50 degrees. A cold front is slated to arrive early in the afternoon, bringing scattered showers back into southeast Texas, the coverage of which will be scattered and eventually spotty, with a few thunderstorms possible.

The Storm Prediction Center has indicated that severe thunderstorms are not expected on Monday. In a more reassuring forecast, no severe thunderstorm areas have been forecasted, leading to a less tumultuous holiday for the region.

Looking towards Christmas Day, the weather appears to take a brighter turn with mostly sunny skies and steady temperatures around 53 degrees forecasted. As reported by Click2Houston, Houstonians can enjoy a seasonably cool and sunny day as they open presents under the tree.

The recent rainfall has brought over an inch of rain in areas like Pearland, Galveston, and Liberty, with totals expected to increase as the day goes on. However, the last of the showers is expected to clear out by evening, giving way to clearer skies from west to east before sunset.
