A man has been arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of another man on Wenda Street earlier this month. Alvin Dean Banion, 40, faces a murder charge after the incident that left Joshua Sanders, 33, dead, as detailed in a statement released by the Houston Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to the scene following a shooting call at an apartment complex parking lot on the night of December 10. Arriving at 4700 Wenda Street around 11:25 p.m., they discovered Sanders mortally wounded. The Houston Fire Department paramedics, having responded to the shooting call in the parking lot of the apartment complex, pronounced him dead at the scene.
The initial investigation turned up neither a motive nor a suspect. Further sleuthing, however, led detectives to identify Banion as the suspect. Banion, currently hospitalized for undisclosed reasons, has not had a booking photo made available.
During a hospital visit on December 18, detectives from HPD's Homicide Division, including K. Persad, K. Fregia, and J. Diaz spoke to Banion. After a prior argument, Banion admitted to his role in the incident, leading to his subsequent charge. The victim, later identified as Mr. Sanders, was found with an apparent gunshot wound by the officers who responded to the initial call.
