A man found dozing off at the wheel on Gessner Road has been slapped with charges for his second drunk driving offense, authorities said Wednesday. Constable Mark Herman's deputies made the pinch last Friday when they spotted Rudy Ramirez-Garcia, sound asleep in a car that was still running, according to the precinct's social media post.
The deputy, conducting a routine welfare check, discovered signs of drunkenness on Garcia, who couldn't seem to shake the sleep from his eyes, or the booze from his breath the constable's office said, he failed the sobriety test that followed of which his impaired state was clear as night, following this, the background check was the nail in the coffin revealing a past smeared with similar mistakes – a previous DWI conviction stained his record.
In a Facebook post from Precinct 4, Constable Herman laid out the details, "Rudy Ramirez-Garcia was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with his second offense of Driving While Intoxicated." The post detailed that his bond was set at a mere $500.00, presumably a small price for freedom yet perhaps not enough of a deterrent to set a man straight from the perilous path of recidivism.
