A man's life was cut short by gunfire on a Sunday evening in Houston, and police have now cuffed the alleged shooter. The Houston Police Department declared that 42-year-old Anthony Ray Gardner has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting that unfolded at 4922 Lockwood Drive around 5:25 p.m., as mentioned in a news release.
Gardner, who is also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, allegedly fired multiple rounds at Dwayne Robinson, 53, who was found riddled with bullets in a business parking lot. Paramedics were unable to save Robinson, declaring him dead at the scene, tragic events unspooling like a grim tapestry nobody wished to weave.
The suspect fled after the shooting, leaving behind a trail of evidence. His vehicle was abandoned at a nearby gas station shortly after, bridging the gap in the investigation that led to his capture. According to the Houston PD's Homicide Division, with Detectives A. Herrera and A. Finlay at the helm, Gardner was apprehended the following day by the HPD Northeast Patrol Division's Crime Suppression Team.
As of now, Gardner awaits trial in the 232nd State District Court.
