A tragedy struck at a Houston apartment complex Wednesday night when an unidentified male was fatally shot, sparking a police investigation into the incident. Houston police arrived at the scene at 8351 Park Place Boulevard around 11 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire and discovering the victim in the courtyard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Houston Fire Department paramedics were called to the location where they pronounced the man dead, the details of which were confirmed in a press release by the Houston Police Department.
At present, the identity of the deceased is yet to be disclosed as officials at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences continue their work to confirm the identification. The HPD Homicide Division, led by Sergeant A. Lopez and Detectives M. Perez, J. Escobar, and N. Sharp is handling the investigation; they are probing the incident, which witnesses say was preceded by a possible argument between the victim and another male in the complex's courtyard.
The authorities have yet to establish a suspect in connection with the shooting and the description of the individual involved remains unknown. Witness accounts suggest an altercation might have taken place in the courtyard prior to the shots being fired; this was noted in the police's preliminary findings, pointing to an argument as a possible prelude to the fatal exchange.
The HPD urges anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and assist in resolving this case. A call has been made to the public to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or to convey tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
