
A pedestrian was left seriously injured after an intoxicated driver struck him on the South Side of San Antonio. The collision occurred at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Loop 410 around 8 p.m on Monday, authorities disclosed. According to KSAT, the driver, behind the wheel of a Lexus IS 250, failed to yield the right of way while turning to enter the Loop 410 access road, subsequently crashing into a Chevrolet Equinox traveling in the opposite direction.
The force of the collision sent the Lexus careening toward the sidewalk where it struck a 67-year-old man, San Antonio police have revealed, and what's more, the pedestrian was then taken to the hospital with grave injuries. The driver of the Lexus, whose identity remains undisclosed, was found to be under the influence and consequently charged with intoxication assault, FOX San Antonio confirmed.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to attend to the injured pedestrian, who was immediately transported to SAMMC for treatment.
