On Christmas Day, a female hiker found herself in a dire situation after sustaining injuries from a fall in the Hollywood Hills West. She reportedly suffered a ground-level fall, potentially fracturing her ankle.
The incident, which took place in the afternoon at approximately 02:34 PM, prompted a response from LAFD units. Despite the challenges of the terrain, the LAFD Air Ops were able to locate the injured woman mid-slope on the steep hillside, and, immediately lowered a rescuer down to assess her condition. According to LAFD, "The adult, female patient suffered a ground-level fall and sustained a possible ankle fracture."
Following the assessment, the rescue team carried out a hoist operation to safely lift the woman from her perilous position on the hillside. After the successful execution of the rescue, she was transported to the hospital by the LAFD Air Ops for treatment. The exact circumstances leading to the hiker's fall remain unclear, and her current condition has not been publicly disclosed.
The LAFD website was able to provide up-to-date information on the rescue, stating, "LAFD Air Ops will conduct a hoist operation followed by hospital transport," allowing the public to stay informed on the matter.
