LAPD Dismantles Suspected Retail Theft Ring in Highland Park, Four Arrested with Stolen MerchandiseSource: Los Angeles Police Department

Law enforcement officials in Los Angeles have put a stop to an alleged retail theft ring following the arrest of four individuals in Highland Park. The suspects, nabbed by the Los Angeles Police Department's Organized Retail Crime Taskforce, are reportedly connected to a heist where over $5,000 in merchandise was swiped from a shoe store.

The LAPD detailed that at midday on December 6, 2023, the quartet, comprising three men and one woman, stormed into a retailer on the 6200 block of York Boulevard and helped themselves to a bounty of shoes and clothing before making their getaway. Thanks to clear descriptions provided by the store's security and eyewitnesses, responding officers and the Air Support Division helicopter were able to trace the perps to a dwelling in Watts.

Patrol officers from the Southeast Division tuned into the helicopter's updates, swooped in, and apprehended the suspects as they unloaded the stolen loot into the residence. The subsequent search warrant executed by Northeast Detectives enabled the recovery of the stolen items, which were promptly returned to their rightful owner—the shoe store.

According to the LAPD Newsroom, those arrested include Traveon Dunn, 19, Travon Nelson, 22, Leon McCall, 21, and Jeydy Salcedo, 21. The suspects, all Los Angeles locals, face charges of organized retail theft and are being held without bail. The LAPD's investigation continues as they probe possible links to other retail thefts in the city.

As the LAPD encourages anyone with information on these crimes to step forward, the incident amplifies ongoing concerns about organized retail theft in Los Angeles.
