A hit-and-run in Los Angeles has left a 61-year-old woman dead, and the LAPD is urgently calling for the public's assistance to find the driver responsible for the tragedy. The woman, whose name has not been released, was struck while crossing Martin Luther King Boulevard with her walker on the evening of December 23, LAPD reports.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. when a white sedan hit the woman and, instead of stopping, it continued westbound without so much as attempting to render aid to the victim, LAPD’s South Traffic Division stated. Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a local hospital, but she later died from her injuries. An incentive for witnesses has been set up, with a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the driver's conviction.
"Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves," the LAPD emphasized after the incident.
Police Officer Marlo Lopez Del Haro, South Traffic Division, is leading the ongoing investigation and can be reached at (213) 359-3552 for any tips regarding the case. The community is also encouraged to provide information through various channels, including calling the 24-hour tip line at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247), using the email [email protected] or reaching out via the LA Regional Crime Stoppers website or the “P3 Tips” mobile app, according to LAPD Newsroom.
