Tragedy struck in Long Beach's 200 block of Eagle Street as homicide detectives have taken to investigate a deadly shooting that unfolded late on December 21. Two men fell victim to the gunfire, leaving one dead and the other wounded, the Long Beach Police Department reported. Law enforcement received a call about a shooting at 10:21 p.m. and found two adult males upon arrival, both suffering from bullet wounds.

The immediate response by officers could not save the first victim, who succumbed to gunshot wounds in his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim managed to survive a bullet wound dealt to one of his limbs. As first responders attended to their urgent tasks, it is unclear at the moment the motive that led to such violent conclusions.

LBPD identified the deceased as 28-year-old Ismael Cuevas, a local of Long Beach. The other male victim, yet unnamed, is currently in stable condition at a hospital. Detectives Ethan Shear and Chasen Contreras are actively working to piece together what might have instigated the shooting.

The police are calling on anyone with information about the crime to step forward. "Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are currently investigating the incident," the Long Beach Police Department detailed. Tips can be anonymously submitted over the phone to the "LA Crime Stoppers" or through their website.
