On Christmas Eve, the Los Angeles Fire Department battled a fierce blaze in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood that enveloped a two-story single-family home. According to a LAFD alert, the fire was reported at 5:21 p.m. at 1770 W 27th St, with heavy fire showing from the first floor as firefighters took an offensive approach to extinguish the flames.
The LAFD resulted in a "knockdown" of the fire by 5:44 p.m., which took a total of 23 minutes. The incident, detailed in a subsequent release, stated that the fire had spread from the first floor up to the second, but did not cause damage to other structures. 44 firefighters were at the scene.
One 44-year-old male was transported in serious condition with smoke inhalation and a traumatic leg injury. There were no other injuries reported, and no additional details about the cause of the fire or the estimate of the damages have been released by the authorities.
The LAFD has not announced the cause of the fire at the time of this reporting. Council District 8, encompassed by the Central Bureau, was the area impacted by this emergency.
