In a heartwarming turn of events at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), a young boy has been reunited with his beloved stuffed toy just in time for the holiday season. The toy, named Kopus, was misplaced at the airport but is now back in the arms of 2-year-old Lucas, who, according to KXAN, is "overjoyed" after the reunion.
An unexpected discovery was made on the second level of the Blue Garage at AUS around 7 p.m. on Dec. 13, when a stuffed puppy turned up outside the elevator, alone and without its owner. The airport's Lost and Found immediately sprang into action, trying to locate the young owner of the stray plushy, FOX 7 Austin reported. When the owner couldn't be located overnight, airport staff showed a touch of humor, suggesting 'Puppy Friend' might take up a "pawsition" with their Planning & Development team, a post that hinted at a puppy's overnight adventures while awaiting his best friend's return.
The tireless efforts of the airport staff paid off the following day. By Thursday afternoon, a report from AUS indicated that Lucas and Kopus had been successfully reunited. In what might have been a bleak tale of a child's lost toy on the precipice of holiday travel chaos, AUS provided a much-needed jubilant chapter.
While Kopus' little escapade ended on a high note, AUS took the opportunity to remind passengers that their Lost and Found department is ready to assist with items left behind at the airport. They encouraged those who lose possessions to reach out by calling 512-530-5678, emphasizing, however, that items left on planes remain the responsibility of the respective airlines.
