Christmas Eve in Malden was disrupted by the sound of gunfire. Malden Police Department officers were dispatched at approximately 9:35 a.m. to 31 Prentiss Street, after receiving reports of shots being fired, NBC Boston reports.
On scene, initial observations seemed normal, however, an investigation soon revealed multiple shell casings, suggesting a serious incident occurred. Resident Jonathan LaBonte recalled hearing an argument before the gunshots, “We heard yelling and screaming earlier this morning before the shots fired,” he explained to Boston 25 News.
Concerns have escalated amongst the residents, where Jonathan LaBonte is contemplating moving “My wife is pregnant and the kids are all inside and it’s just one of those things where we want to leave the situation behind us and go to Gramma’s.” he revealed to Boston 25 News,
The investigation remains active, with special unit officers having ensured no injuries within the home, Malden PD, yet to determine the motive, believes the shooting was not a random act.
