A man was tragically gunned down in a brutal carjacking incident in San Antonio, police said. The 38-year-old victim was shot dead by carjackers on the Northeast side of the city on Friday night, as reported by FOX San Antonio. The San Antonio Police Department stated that they received reports of a shooting around 9 p.m. near the 200 block of Victor Street.
Found inside his vehicle, the victim was waiting when several suspects who remain at large, surrounded his car, and demanded the keys, the police shared. The situation reportedly escalated quickly, and one of the suspects shot the victim in the head before fleeing with his vehicle. The scene of the crime was at an apartment complex's parking lot, with several casings found and damage to two vehicles from gunfire.
After the tragic shooting, the wounded man was rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMMC) in critical condition, according to MSN. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
No additional injuries were reported following the deadly encounter. The suspects, after taking the life of the 38-year-old man, fled the area.
