A man was shot to death Wednesday in a bustling area of Uptown Dallas near a Wells Fargo bank, authorities said. The Dallas Police Department found 46-year-old Roderick Butler with gunshot wounds on the sidewalk in the 2200 block of McKinney Avenue after responding to the shooting at approximately 5 p.m., as stated by FOX 4 News.
After being transported to a nearby hospital, Butler succumbed to his injuries. The perpetrator, who remains at large, was last seen running toward Maple Avenue, through parking lots adjacent to the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made, as reported by NBC DFW.
Witnesses in the vicinity recounted hearing multiple gunshots before people fled the area seeking refuge in nearby establishments. Shortly after the incident, crime scene investigators concentrated their efforts around the Wells Fargo ATM and a nearby jewelry store. The area was cordoned off with crime scene tape, which was later removed within the hour.
A stark reminder of the event was left behind in the form of a single shell casing amidst the parked cars, alongside traces of blood on the sidewalk.
