A man was left wounded after gunfire erupted in North Long Beach, following what police described as a confrontation between two groups of men. The incident, which occurred in the 6100 block of Atlantic Avenue around 6:40 p.m. Friday, prompted an investigation by local authorities, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.
The LBPD release outlines that officers, after being alerted to shots being fired, arrived on the scene only to find the involved parties had already fled the area. It was a few hours later that a male adult with a gunshot wound to his lower body surfaced at a local hospital, where officers connected him to the earlier altercation.
Despite sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, the victim remained uncooperative with police, declining to provide further details regarding the shooting. The LB Post notes that police have confirmed that there were no additional reported injuries from the incident.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not relayed any information about potential suspects. Anyone with knowledge about this shooting is encouraged to reach out to the Long Beach Police Department.
