Found lying in the parking lot of the Walmart located off E. US Hwy 290, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Austin-Travis County EMS, who, along with the police, were called at the hour when most were still surrendering to sleep. Lt. Lawrence Rideau from the Manor Police Department could not release the victim's identity at the time and noted that the homicide would require "extensive investigation," as the Austin American Statesman details.
The Manor Police Department has not apprehended any suspects in relation to the shooting. They are seeking the assistance of the community, urging anyone with pertinent information to reach out via police hotline or email, as FOX 7 Austin has reported. As the investigation unfolds, they've also tapped into video surveillance to piece together the incident, concluding that the decedent was not a Walmart customer at the time as the store had not yet opened for business.
Manor officials remain tight-lipped about the nature of the shooting, which was caught on surveillance cameras, providing a silent witness to the violence that unfolded in the empty lot. "We are trying to confirm his identity," Sgt. Craig Strubel told the Austin American Statesman, indicating the medical examiner's involvement in this somber task. The Manor Police Department continues to sift through evidence, undeterred by a landscape shadowed by the unknown elements that predate their arrival at that grim scene.
