An enormous home under construction in Encino went up in flames on Friday, December 22, leaving a heap of destruction in its wake. According to a statement from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the blaze was first reported at 2:43 PM by a neighbor who dialed 9-1-1 to alert authorities of the incident on Royal Oak Drive.
Firefighters charged into action arriving swiftly to a 28,000 square-foot structure enveloped in smoke and fire, as flames ravaged the second floor. The LAFD confirmed that all construction workers had managed to flee the perilous scene, leaving no casualties amidst the chaos.
With over 130 firefighters mobilized, the LAFD spearheaded by Assistant Chief Dean Zipperman, worked feverishly to contain the inferno. A release by the department chronicled the three-hour-long battle that eventually subdued the flames, effectively saving the surrounding area from harm. There were no injuries reported.
The official cause of the fire is still under active investigation by the LAFD.
