A harrowing incident unfolded in Minneapolis last week, ending in tragedy after a man succumbed to his injuries following a shooting. Franclin Ignacio Orellana, in his 40s, passed away days after being shot during a physical altercation that began in a local bar and escalated outside, according to official reports by the Minneapolis Police Department.
The altercation took place in the early hours of December 16. Officers from the 2nd Precinct were summoned to 5th St E and E Hennepin Ave, where they found Orellana with severe gunshot wounds. Officers administered CPR until paramedics transported him to Hennepin Healthcare. Despite best efforts to save his life, Orellana passed away on December 18th, as stated by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office, which also ruled his death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound of the head and neck.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that after the brawl spilled onto the streets, Orellana approached a vehicle from which the shots were fired. The suspect, now identified as Juan Canario Robles, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The police have arrested Robles and booked him on probable cause murder. The Minneapolis Police Department's Homicide division has taken up the case, continuing their investigation.
