A Minneapolis man was charged with fentanyl possession with plans to distribute the potent opioid, law enforcement officials said. Andre Garner, 42, entered a guilty plea to one count in federal court, as U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced yesterday.

During a raid back on January 24, nearly 800 grams of fentanyl were found tucked away in a van tied to Garner, in addition to a hefty stash of cocaine tipping the scales at over 1,000 grams, two firearms, and a cool $9,400 in cash. The sweep took place at Garner's South Minneapolis home, law enforcement officials detailed.

"During their search, law enforcement also recovered over 1,000 grams of cocaine, two firearms, and $9,400 in cash," the U.S. Attorney's Office stated in a release. In a statement that reflected Garner's full acceptance of responsibility, he told officers that anything found on the premises was his, the van and the money included.

With the guilty plea secured, a date for Garner's sentencing will soon be marked on the court's calendar, with Judge Jerry W. Blackwell at the U.S. District Court helm. The case came together through the joint efforts of the Hennepin County Violent Offender Task Force and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
