A two-and-a-half mile stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Malibu was cordoned off following a deadly collision between a car and a motorcycle. KTLA reported that the accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. near the 33400 block of PCH, South of Leo Carillo State Beach, with law enforcement closing roads between Mulholland Highway and Decker Road for investigation and clean-up.

The motorcycle rider, a man in his 30s, met his end on the scene after colliding with a Cadillac Escalade, which, according to CBS News, was backing out of a driveway. The motorcyclist was heading south on PCH when the tragic crash unfolded and despite the immediate response from first responders, he was pronounced dead at the crash site. Officials have launched an investigation into the incident though excessive speed or alcohol don't appear to be factored in the collision.

The identity of the deceased motorcyclist has yet to be disclosed, pending notification of next of kin. Traffic in the area experienced significant disruption due to the closure for several hours. Only last year, four Pepperdine students tragically lost their lives along this stretch of PCH in a similarly heartrending accident.

As detailed by ABC7, there has been an outcry for improvements along this part of the highway, and efforts are currently underway to enhance safety after locals raised serious concerns following the Pepperdine tragedy and multiple previous fatal incidents residents claim that the stretch has long been a brew of calamitous potential.
