Arlington police are currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 30 when a woman, sitting in the roadway for unknown reasons, was struck and killed by several vehicles. Witnesses and evidence led investigators to determine the woman was in the far right lane near Fielder Road, and despite the efforts of several drivers, it was too late for them to avoid the collision, per a report by Yahoo News.
The incident happened around 4:25 a.m., causing authorities to shut down all lanes of eastbound I-30 during the subsequent investigation. The drivers who were involved in the incident stopped and cooperated with law enforcement, calling 911, and at this point, they are not facing any criminal charges in the wake of the tragedy.
As the investigation continues, the reason for the woman's presence on the road remains unclear, and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is in the process of identifying the victim once next-of-kin have been notified, per NBC DFW.
