New Italian Restaurant to Open in Culver City as Etta ClosesSource: Google Street View

A new chapter in Culver City's dining scene is set to unfold as Mosaic Hospitality Management prepares to open an Italian eatery in place of the soon-to-shutter Etta. According to What Now Los Angeles, the upcoming restaurant, still unnamed, will feature a menu populated with pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and grilled meats.

Paul Pruitt, co-owner of Mosaic, confirmed earlier speculations of Etta's demise to Eater LA, outlining the transition period and the culinary direction under Chef Michael Santoro. Setting the stage for the Italian debut, Pruitt and his partners—Sky Strouth, COO of Mosaic, and Alex Racioppi, Mosaic co-founder and CEO—are poised to retain Etta's decorative charm with slight touch-ups.

The pivot to Italian fare isn't the only feather in Mosaic's cap. Their expansive umbrella shades the Canopy Club atop the same property and extends to major projects like overseeing several food and beverage outlets within W Hollywood's extravagant renovation nearing $100 million. Pruitt's team also casts an eye towards Southland Sundries, a food hall concept gearing up to integrate within Culver City's Entrada development.

While Etta's closure rings the bell of change, its legacy is marred by internal turmoil and allegations of mishandling funds. The shadow cast by a failed power struggle and lawsuit over Paycheck Protection Program funds cast by What If Syndicate's partners—despite at one time pulling in up to $30,000 nightly—can't be overlooked. In struggling with an economic slump, the Culver City outpost failed to navigate the treacherous waters of commerce, as retold by Eater LA.

Foodies eagerly anticipating the first taste of Italy can mark their calendars for breakfast service, set to begin on January 3, according to What Now Los Angeles. Following the morning menu, lunch and dinner will be on offer from January 8.
