A 65-year-old school psychologist has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography in North Texas, according to officials. Christian Rewoldt, a contracted psychologist who worked with Crowley ISD, was taken into custody after a police investigation that began in August.
The Mansfield Police Department said the probe into Rewoldt's activities kicked off when they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Following a search at his home, the SWAT team seized several electronic devices allegedly containing child porn. An additional charge of tampering with evidence was levied against the suspect, as reported by WFAA.
The investigation unearthed a laptop with a Crowley ISD sticker during the search, revealing Rewoldt's professional connection to the district. While the man had passed all requisite background checks before his contract work, which began in 2021, police are currently investigating whether he had any inappropriate contact with children.
"There is no evidence at this time that Rewoldt had inappropriate contact with children while working with Crowley ISD," stated Mansfield police, though the search for potential victims continues. Crowley ISD informed parents that Rewoldt had performed classroom observations and had not been active within the district since August 2023. The district has been cooperating with the Mansfield Police in the ongoing investigation, according to FOX 4 News.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information or who may have been a victim to come forward, seeking assistance in piecing together any additional misconduct that may have occurred.
