
A mobile home fire in San Antonio's southeast led to the death of a 62-year-old woman and left an adult and a child in need of hospital treatment, according to fire officials. KENS 5 reported that responders to the 5000 block of Trout Lane, not far from Harmony Elementary School, found the home completely engulfed in flames upon their early Wednesday arrival around 6 a.m.
An account provided by officials at the scene to KENS 5 suggested there may have been an individual trapped inside the blazing structure as flames were visible from all sides of the home, the report emerged from the scene indicating a difficulty as there was no working fire hydrant nearby complicated efforts to combat the inferno. The home was declared a total loss.
The tragedy wasn't the sole occurrence reported in the area on that morning, with FOX San Antonio stating that the Bexar County ESD 10 Fire Chief, Robert Hogan, confirmed another fire around 4 a.m. and it was during this incident where the elderly woman was found deceased.
As fires ravaged what once was someone's abode, reduced now to debris and despair, the aftermath left a community grappling with the sorrows of unexpected loss and the unclear path ahead for those who are hospitalized, their conditions not immediately known as of the latest updates given to news outlets, the community now must cope with the aftermath of such a devastating event.
