A blaze that engulfed a Northwest Side home Wednesday morning left one person hospitalized, officials say. The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the fiery emergency in the 100 block of Maiden Lane at Brandywine near Culebra Road, the fire started around 11:30 a.m.
Fire Chief Charles Hood reported that four individuals were in the dwelling when the incident occurred, two of whom escaped without assistance. A woman was transported to a hospital for smoke inhalation, Hood said in a statement obtained by KSAT. The condition of the hospitalized individual has not been disclosed.
Sadly, two dogs are reported missing at this time, according to a report by KENS 5. The extent of the damage to the property remains to be evaluated, but the structure endured significant damage from the fire that ignited in its rear.
Authorities have not yet provided updates regarding the ongoing search for the family’s pets, or details on the investigation into the fire's origin.
