In Pearland, Texas, The viral sensation The Puddery is temporarily closing its doors due to an overwhelming influx of customers following a glowing review by TikTok food critic Keith Lee. According to Click2Houston, the dessert shop located at 5517 Broadway St. Suite in Pearland was barely keeping up with the demand, resulting in the unexpected yet necessary closure until December 9th.
Lee made a significant impact, spending $36.07 during his visit and rating the strawberry banana pudding 9.2 out of 10. Following the review, which received more than 11.6 million views on TikTok, the business witnessed an explosion of customers. Lee noted, “I ain’t going to lie, for them to not be out the door, I am actually speechless." In light of the surge, The Puddery even renamed its Oreo Croffle to The Keith Lee Croffle in his honor, Click2Houston reports.
The Puddery's owner, Janel Prator, took to social media to announce the temporary shutdown to her patrons. "Due to the Keith Lee Effect!!!! 😂 Sorry guys, but we are closed until this Saturday, Dec. 9 We want to ensure we are providing you with the best service possible so we will be taking a few days to prepare. Thank you for your patience and understanding," the shop stated in an Instagram post.
The popularity of their 'World Famous Banana Pudding,' once featured on Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race," put pressure on Prator and her operations. The shop even contemplated hiring more staff to cater to the deluge of dessert devotees, as per Chron.
