
A tragic collision on the streets of Palmdale on December 26 has claimed the life of a pedestrian. The Palmdale Sheriff's Department reported that deputies responded to the call at about 10 p.m., involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The fatality occurred when a person was struck by an oncoming car while walking southbound in the eastbound lane of travel.
Authorities at the scene found the pedestrian dead upon their arrival. Attempting to render assistance after the collision, the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. According to the official statement by the Sheriff's department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, led by Captain Koch, joined first responders at the site of the accident.

On December 26, 2023, at 2200 hours, Palmdale Deputies responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian call.
Upon investigation, it was determined P/1 was walking southbound in the #1 eastbound lane of travel.
The investigation into the accident is currently being conducted by Palmdale Station Traffic Detectives. Standard Field Sobriety Tests were administered, pointing to neither alcohol nor drugs as an influence on the part of the driver at the time of the collision. The use of alcohol or drugs by the pedestrian is still under investigation.
