A domestic dispute in Pleasant Hill escalated to a SWAT team standoff when a wife reported that her husband shot at her after he locked her out of their home. According to a statement released by the Pleasant Hill Police Department, the incident occurred yesterday, around 7:05 p.m., when officers were dispatched to a residence on Cleopatra Drive to perform a welfare check on the reporting female party.

The victim, who sustained minor injuries to her lower body, was found outside the property after her husband reportedly barricaded the side garage door and fired a shotgun, with a single shot hitting his wife when she attempted to enter. She was later treated at a local hospital and released. The husband barricaded himself inside the house, refusing to communicate with the officers or the crisis negotiators, despite ongoing attempts to reach him through the telephone and loudspeaker.

The situation took a turn for the worse as the husband began to upload posts on social media suggesting he might take his own life, although he did not pose an immediate danger to surrounding neighbors. The police secured the area, and after repeated failed negotiations, the Central County SWAT team decided to disengage upon deciding that the man was not an immediate threat to the public.

After hours of negotiation with no success, the SWAT team withdrew from the scene, leaving the man alone in his house. The standoff is now part of an active investigation by Pleasant Hill's authorities, Lieutenant Jason Kleven noted in the department's statement.
