Tragedy struck Providence, Rhode Island, when a man allegedly murdered his sister and critically wounded his mother in an early morning stabbing spree on Wednesday. According to WPRI, the violence erupted just as the 28-year-old sister was ready to leave for work; she encountered her brother, 29-year-old Wesney Clairsainvil, who allegedly attacked her with a knife in their driveway on Adelaide Avenue.
Their mother, hearing the commotion, rushed out only to be subjected to the same fate as her daughter, though she survived the encounter – albeit with serious injuries; it has been reported she remains in a state of medical desperation, currently fighting for her life in surgery, in critical condition. The assailant fled the scene but was later apprehended at his residence on Public Street after a SWAT team intervention.
Clairsainvil now faces a series of grave charges including murder, assault with intent to commit a felony resulting in serious injury, and disorderly conduct, as investigations continue with law enforcement executing a search warrant at his home, as conveyed by NBC Boston.
This incident marks the city's 14th homicide of the year.
