Redwood City streets were on lockdown as cops snagged three individuals at DUI checkpoints last month, serving as a sobering reminder that the law cracks down hard on impaired driving and related offenses. On the nights of November 25 and 26, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., Redwood City's finest ran a tight ship at El Camino Real and Diller St., then at Woodside Rd. and Bay Rd.; they weren't playing around, conducting 612 vehicle checks and issuing a raft of citations.
Among those nabbed was one motorist reeking of booze and bad decisions who was arrested for DUI, another who drew the short end of the stick with a felony warrant hanging over their head, and a third party found juggling possession of a firearm alongside controlled substances.
However, it wasn't just high crimes drawing the blue line's gaze; a noteworthy total of 24 citations were handed out to drivers caught operating their rides without a license or with one that was about as valid as expired coupons, as per the Redwood City Police Department
