
An investigation is underway following the death of a 29-year-old female inmate at Robert Presley Detention Center. Heather Hendy, from Corona, was found unresponsive by deputies in her cell on Sunday afternoon. Despite immediate attempts to resuscitate her by custody staff and jail medical personnel, and subsequently by paramedics, Hendy was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a statement from the Riverside Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. There were no signs of foul play observed when deputies discovered the inmate, the office indicated. The Corrections Central Investigations team has taken charge of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to Hendy’s death.
Investigator Arturo Rodriguez of the Riverside Sheriff’s Office is leading the inquiry. Officials have released few details thus far. Rodriguez is currently calling for anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
