The city of Saint Paul's Planning Commission has disclosed its agenda for a meeting on December 22, 2023. The schedule, accessible online, details the commission’s plan to discuss matters ranging from zoning changes to the Saint Paul Bicycle Plan.
One of the main items up for consideration involves 736 Oakdale Avenue, where there’s a proposal to change the zoning from H1 residential to T2 traditional neighborhood. This rezoning could mean a significant change in land use for the southeast corner of Sidney Street E. and Oakdale Street. The agenda, item #23-103-176, will be supervised by Christina Hong, who can be reached for further insight.
Along with the rezoning topic, the commission has publicized its intentions to review and possibly approve minutes from their former December 8 meeting. The chair and Planning Director will also make announcements that could influence future community development.
The transportation issues are shifting into higher gear as well. The Saint Paul Bicycle Plan is slated for a release to the public for feedback, with a public hearing date already penciled in for February 2, 2024. The presentation of the plan will be handled by Jimmy Shoemaker from Public Works. Inquiries about this topic can be directed to Bill Dermody.
Moreover, the Planning Commission will engage in usual operational procedures, including reviewing communications from the Nomination Committee, addressing old business, and nominating new business. Before the gathering ends, members will adjourn until further notice. Individual members who cannot participate in the meeting are asked to send their notice of absence to [email protected].
Residents requiring language assistance with the agenda information have been advised to contact [email protected] to receive free translation services in Spanish or Hmong, aiding in the community's understanding and involvement in the planning process.
